This proverb illustrates the insatiable nature of human curiosity and desire. The ear is always open to new information or gossip (never 'fasts'), and the eye is never satisfied with what it sees, perpetually seeking more or something different.

ጆሮ ሁሌም አዳዲስ ወሬዎችንና መረጃዎችን ለመስማት ዝግጁ ነው፣ አይጠግብም። ዓይንም እንዲሁ የቱን ያህል ነገር ቢያይም አይበቃውም፣ ሁሌም አዲስ ነገር ይፈልጋል። ይህ የሰውን ልጅ የማወቅ ጉጉት፣ ምኞትና የማይጠገብ ባህሪ ያሳያል።
