ይህ ምሳሌ አንድ ሰው በስግብግብነት ወይም በቸልተኝነት ራሱ ያልተጠቀመበትን ነገር ለሌሎችም እንዳይጠቅም ሲያደርግ ይነገራል። ዶሮዋ ያልበላችውን እህል በመበተን ለሌሎችም ጥቅም እንዳይውል እንደምታደርግ ሁሉ፣ ሰውም ራሱ የማያገኘውን ነገር ሌሎች እንዳያገኙ ሲያደርግ ያሳያል።
