This proverb signifies that if there is abundant rain during Pagume (the last, short month of the Ethiopian calendar), it heralds a very prosperous upcoming year with a bountiful harvest. 'Prepare your granary' is an exaggerated idiom suggesting that you will have such an immense amount of produce that you should prepare your granary for storage, or even metaphorically imply an overwhelming abundance that requires preparing for a large-scale processing or utilization of the harvest. It advises preparing for great abundance and prosperity.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያመለክተው ጳጉሜ ላይ ብዙ ዝናብ ከጣለ፣ መጪው የመስከረም ወርና አዲሱ ዓመት ከፍተኛ ምርትና ብልጽግና እንደሚያመጣ ነው። 'ጎታህን አብስ' ማለት ደግሞ እጅግ በጣም ብዙ ምርት ስለምታገኝ ለዚያ መዘጋጀት፣ በምርት ብዛት ምክንያት ለክምችት የሚያገለግልህን ጎታህን እንኳን እንደ ማብሰያ መጠቀም እንደምትችል ያህል ማለት ነው። ለመጪው መልካም ነገር በብዛት መዘጋጀትን ያሳያል።
