This proverb points out the irony when someone, without being asked, tries to 'correct' or 'improve' something, but in doing so, only makes it worse or introduces new flaws. It criticizes officious or misguided attempts at intervention that lead to negative results.

ይህ አባባል አንድ ሰው ሳይጠየቅ ወይም ሥልጣን ሳይኖረው አንድን ነገር 'ለማረም' ወይም 'ለማሻሻል' ሲሞክር፣ በተቃራኒው ግን ነገሩን ይበልጥ ሲያበላሽበት ያለውን ሁኔታ ያመለክታል። በራስ ፍቃድ ገብቶ ነገሮችን ከማስተካከል ይልቅ ይበልጥ ማበላሸትን ይተቻል።
