This proverb illustrates a mother's deep and boundless love, care, and sacrifice for her child. Just as the Nile River is life-giving to Ethiopia, so too is a mother a source of life and all things to her child.

ይህ ምሳሌ የእናት ለልጇ ያላትን ጥልቅና ገደብ የለሽ ፍቅር፣ ተንከባካቢነት እና መስዋዕትነት ያሳያል። ልክ አባይ ወንዝ ለኢትዮጵያ ህይወት ሰጭ እንደሆነ ሁሉ፣ እናትም ለልጇ የሕይወት ምንጭና ሁሉን ነገር ሰጪ መሆኗን ይገልጻል።
