ትርጉም

This proverb describes inappropriate or unconventional behavior. A horseman is expected to wear clothes that reflect his status and wealth, so wearing sackcloth (a sign of poverty or mourning) is improper. Similarly, a woman smoking or tasting tobacco (which is unacceptable in some cultures) is considered an inappropriate act. The proverb criticizes behavior that deviates from social norms and expectations.

ይህ ምሳሌ ስለ ተገቢ ያልሆነ ወይም ከተለመደው ውጪ የሆነ ባህሪ ይገልጻል። ፈረሰኛ ክብሩንና ሃብቱን የሚያሳይ ልብስ መልበስ ሲጠበቅበት ማቅ (የድሆች ወይም የሀዘን ምልክት) መልበሱ ተገቢ አይደለም። በተመሳሳይ፣ ሴት ትምባሆ ማጨስ ወይም መቅመስ (በአንዳንድ ባህሎች ተቀባይነት የለውም) ተገቢ ያልሆነ ተግባር ነው። ምሳሌው ከማህበራዊ ደንቦችና ከሚጠበቀው ባህሪ ያፈነገጠ ተግባርን ይተቻል።
