This proverb implies that one should not attempt to teach or advise someone who is already intelligent, knowledgeable, or holds a position of high authority. Such individuals are presumed to understand things without being told, and offering unsolicited advice might be seen as redundant or disrespectful.

ብልህ የሆነ ሰው መናገር ሳያስፈልግ የሚገባውን ይረዳል፤ ንጉስም ቢሆን ምክር አይሻም የሚል ትርጉም አለው። እውቀታቸው ወይም ስልጣናቸው ከፍተኛ የሆኑ ሰዎችን ያለ አግባብ ለማስተማር ወይም ለመምከር መሞከር አላስፈላጊ መሆኑን ያመለክታል።
