ትርጉም

This proverb reflects traditional gender roles in Ethiopian society. It means that a woman's place and expertise are in managing the household ('majet' - kitchen/home affairs), while a man's place and expertise are in public affairs, judgment, and external matters ('chilote' - court/assembly). It defines societal expectations for each gender.

ይህ ምሳሌ በኢትዮጵያ ማህበረሰብ ውስጥ የነበሩ ባህላዊ የጾታ ሚናዎችን ያንጸባርቃል። የሴት ቦታዋ ቤትንና የቤት ውስጥ ሥራዎችን ማስተዳደር ሲሆን፣ የወንድ ቦታው ደግሞ የህዝብ ጉዳዮችን፣ ፍርድንና ውጫዊ ጉዳዮችን መከታተል መሆኑን ይገልጻል።
