ይህ ብሂል ሰዎች ለመኖር ምግብ እንደሚያስፈልጋቸው በቀጥታ ያሳያል። በስፋት ሲታይ ደግሞ፣ የጎደለ ነገር መሟላት እንዳለበት ወይም ባዶ ቦታ መሙላት እንደሚፈልግ ያመለክታል። ፍላጎቶች ግዴታዎችንና ድርጊቶችን ይፈጥራሉ።
