This proverb indicates a situation where someone gives a lot but receives little or no benefit in return. `Kuna` is a unit of measurement, while `tinkil` (ጥንቅል) often refers to a small bundle of items. Thus, it's said when a lot of effort or resources are invested, but the outcome is disproportionately small or frustrating.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያሳየው አንድ ሰው ብዙ ሰጥቶ ትንሽ ወይም ምንም ጥቅም ሳያገኝ ሲቀር ነው። ቁና የመለኪያ አሃድ ሲሆን፣ ጥንቅል ደግሞ ብዙ ጊዜ አነስተኛ የሆነ የዕቃ ጥቅልን ያመለክታል። ስለዚህ፣ ብዙ ጥረት ወይም ሀብት አፍስሶ ከሱ ጋር የማይመጣጠን ትንሽ ውጤት ወይም ብስጭት ሲገኝ የሚነገር ነው።
