This proverb highlights irony and neglect. A barber, whose profession is to keep people's heads clean and free of lice, paradoxically has a child infested with lice. It means that people sometimes neglect their own affairs or those closest to them, even in areas where they are experts for others, critiquing hypocrisy or oversight in one's own domain.

ይህ ብሂል አሽሙራዊ በሆነ መንገድ ግብዝነትን ወይም የራስን ጉዳይ ችላ ማለትን ይገልጻል። ፀጉር ላጭ የሌሎችን ፀጉር ንጽህና የሚያረጋግጥ ሆኖ ሳለ፣ የራሱ ልጅ ቅማል መያዙ የእራሱን ወይም የቅርብ ወገኖቹን ጉዳይ ችላ ማለትን ያሳያል።
