This proverb illustrates a fool's poor discernment and gullibility. A fool might even mistake an empty hole for a house and enter it. This shows that it is important to protect an ignorant or foolish person from things that could lead them to danger or trouble, because they lack the ability to recognize the danger.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሞኝ ሰው መጥፎ የማስተዋል ችሎታን እና በቀላሉ መታለል የሚችልበትን ባህሪ ያሳያል። ሞኝ ሰው ባዶ ጉድጓድን እንኳን ቤት መስሎት ሊገባ ይችላል። ይህም ማለት አላዋቂ ወይም ሞኝ ሰውን ለአደጋ ወይም ችግር ከሚዳርገው ነገር መጠበቅ አስፈላጊ መሆኑን ያሳያል ምክንያቱም እነሱ አደጋውን የመለየት ችሎታ ስለሌላቸው።
