This proverb reflects a problematic old stereotype about women. It wrongly assumes that women have a tendency to lie; therefore, it states that only if a woman does not lie, is her loyalty and love for her husband confirmed. Modern thinking does not accept this generalization.

ይህ አባባል በጥንት ጊዜ በሴቶች ላይ የተንሰራፋውን የተሳሳተ አመለካከት የሚያንፀባርቅ ነው። ሴቶች ውሸትን የመለማመድ ዝንባሌ አላቸው የሚል የተሳሳተ ግምት ይሰጣል፤ ስለዚህም የማትዋሽ ከሆነ ብቻ ታማኝነቷ እና ፍቅሯ የተረጋገጠ ነው ይላል። ዘመናዊ አስተሳሰብ ግን አይቀበለውም።
