This proverb suggests that one should not stop doing what is necessary or important out of fear of potential problems or dangers. Even though nightmares are a result of sleeping, one cannot forgo sleep altogether. It implies that it is not appropriate to abandon good things due to fear of potential difficulties.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያመለክተው አንድ ሰው ሊመጣ የሚችለውን ችግር ወይም አደጋ በመፍራት አስፈላጊ የሆነውን ነገር ማቆም ወይም አለማድረግ እንደሌለበት ነው። ቅዠት የመተኛት ውጤት ቢሆንም፣ እንቅልፍን መተው አይቻልም። ችግርን በመፍራት መልካም ነገሮችን መተው ተገቢ አይደለም ማለት ነው።
