This proverb means that trying to mediate or intervene in a conflict involving an irrational person can be dangerous or counterproductive. Instead of resolving the issue, the mediator might inadvertently provide the means for further harm. It warns against getting involved in certain disputes, especially when one side is unreasonable.

ይህ ምሳሌ የማያገናዝብ ሰው (የእብድ) ግጭት ውስጥ ጣልቃ መግባት አደገኛ ወይም ከጥቅሙ ጉዳቱ ሊበልጥ እንደሚችል ያሳያል። አስታራቂው ችግሩን ከመፍታት ይልቅ ሳያስበው ለተጨማሪ ጉዳት የሚያገለግል ነገር (እንደ ድንጋይ መስጠት) ሊያቀርብ ይችላል። በተለይ አንደኛው ወገን የማያስተውል ከሆነ በእንደዚህ ዓይነት ክርክሮች ውስጥ ከመግባት ያስጠነቅቃል።
