ሽማግሌና ስልቻ ሳይሞሉ አይቆሙም
“An elder and a sack do not stand without being full.”
ትርጉም
This proverb suggests that elders, like sacks, gain their value and purpose when they are 'full.' For an elder, this means being full of life experience, wisdom, and knowledge, making their advice weighty and respected. Just as an empty sack is of little use, an elder's counsel becomes truly valuable and authoritative only when it comes from a deep well of lived experience. It emphasizes the importance of accumulated wisdom and experience for an elder to command respect and provide meaningful guidance.
