የሚፈርስ ከተማ ነጋሪት ቢመታ አይሰማ
“A crumbling city does not hear the beating of a drum.”
Meaning
This proverb signifies that if something is destined for ruin or collapse, no amount of warning or effort to avert it will be effective. It implies that when a person, an organization, or a situation is heading towards inevitable failure, advice and warnings will fall on deaf ears or be disregarded. Essentially, it conveys the idea that for something with a predetermined fate, the impending outcome cannot be prevented, no matter how loud the warnings are. It highlights the futility of warning those who are already on a destructive path or something that is inherently unstable.
