Meaning

This proverb illustrates a situation where familiarity breeds contempt. It describes how someone, upon gaining a closer acquaintance with another person, loses respect for them or begins to despise them, often due to discovering flaws or perceived weaknesses.

ይህ ምሳሌ የቅርብ ትውውቅ ለንቀት ሲዳርግ የሚያሳይ ነው። አንድ ሰው በደንብ ከተዋወቀ በኋላ ሌላውን ሰው ማክበሩን ሲተው ወይም ሲንቅ ይገለጻል። ትውውቅ ሲጨምር ክብር የሚቀንስበትን ሁኔታ ይገልጻል።
