This proverb implies that one cannot change their fundamental nature. A fox, known for its cunning and predatory nature, cannot truly become an ascetic. It means that people tend to revert to their true character, and one should not trust someone whose nature is fundamentally exploitative or deceitful.

ይህ ብሂል አንድ ሰው የመሠረታዊ ባህሪውን መለወጥ እንደማይችል ያመለክታል። በተንኮልና አዳኝነቷ የምትታወቀው ቀበሮ በእውነት ባህታዊ (ለሃይማኖታዊ ምክንያቶች ጥብቅ ራስን መግዛትንና መከልከልን የሚለማመድ ሰው) መሆን አትችልም። ሰዎች ወደ እውነተኛ ባህሪያቸው እንደሚመለሱ እና ተፈጥሮአቸው በመሠረቱ ብዝበዛ ወይም ማታለል የሆነን ሰው ማመን እንደሌለበት ያመለክታል።
