ይህ ብሂል ህልሞች ብዙውን ጊዜ ምክንያታዊ ያልሆኑ፣ የማይገመቱ እና ልዩ እንደሆኑ ያመለክታል። አመክንዮአዊ ቅጦችን አይከተሉም ወይም ግልጽ የሆኑ እውነተኛ ዓለም አቻዎች የላቸውም። በህልም ውስጥ የሚከሰተውን በቃል መውሰድ ወይም ከእውነታው ጋር ማወዳደር እንደሌለበት ያመለክታል፣ ምክንያቱም ህልሞች በራሳቸው የእውነት ያልሆነ ዓለም ውስጥ ይኖራሉ።
