ይህ ምሳሌ አንድ ሰው በገዛ ፍቃዱ ራሱን አደጋ ላይ በሚጥል ወይም በአስቸጋሪ ሁኔታ ውስጥ ሲያስገባ፣ በሚመጣው አሉታዊ ውጤት ወይም መጥፎ አያያዝ ማማረር እንደሌለበት ያሳያል። በራስ ተነሳሽነት ለሚመጡ ችግሮች ማስጠንቀቂያ ሲሆን፣ ምርጫዎች ወደማይፈለጉ ውጤቶች ቢመሩም እንኳ ሃላፊነትን መውሰድን ያበረታታል።
