Meaning

This proverb highlights the profound suffering and emotional burden faced by parents, particularly the mother, when their child's marriage fails or ends in divorce. While the husband might simply leave (divorce), the pain and sorrow inflicted upon the mother who bore and raised the child are deemed far greater and more enduring.

ይህ ብሂል አንዲት ሴት በጋብቻ ውስጥ ችግር ሲገጥማት ወይም ስትፈታ፣ ባሏ በቀላሉ ጥሏት የሚሄድ ሲሆን፣ ነገር ግን ለወላጆቿ በተለይም ለእናቷ የሚደርሰው ሀዘንና ስቃይ የላቀ መሆኑን ያመለክታል። የጋብቻ መፍረስ በወላጆች ላይ የሚኖረውን ስነ ልቦናዊ ጫና ያሳያል።
