Meaning

This proverb suggests that although a cat is a domestic animal and may appear gentle, its wild animal instincts (hunting, raw nature) never disappear. In human relationships, it means that even if a person's outward behavior seems peaceful or kind, they might harbor a malicious, cunning, or deceptive nature within. It describes a hidden identity or true character.

ይህ ምሳሌ ምንም እንኳን ድመት የቤት እንስሳ ብትሆንም እና የዋህ ብትመስልም፣ የዱር እንስሳ ባህሪዋ (አደን፣ ጠባይ) እንደማይጠፋ ያሳያል። በሰው ልጅ ግንኙነት ውስጥ ደግሞ አንድ ሰው ውጫዊ ባህሪው ሰላማዊ ወይም ደግ ቢመስልም፣ በውስጡ ግን ክፉ፣ ተንኮለኛ ወይም አታላይ ተፈጥሮ ሊኖረው እንደሚችል ያመለክታል። የተደበቀ ማንነት ወይም እውነተኛ ባህሪ መገለጫ ነው።
