የበላ በለጠኝ የሮጠ አመለጠኝ

Meaning

This proverb indicates that a person who tries to do two things at once or is indecisive between two options might lose both. 'He who ate surpassed me' means missing out on a deserved benefit or reward, and 'he who ran escaped me' means failing to catch up with something that is escaping. In other words, it signifies loss incurred due to not doing one thing properly or wavering between two matters.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያመለክተው አንድ ሰው በሁለት ነገሮች መካከል ሲጣደፍ ወይም ለማድረግ ሲሞክር፣ ሁለቱንም ሊያጣ እንደሚችል ነው። 'የበላ በለጠኝ' ማለት የሚገባውን ጥቅም ወይም ሽልማት አጣ፣ 'የሮጠ አመለጠኝ' ማለትም ከሚያመልጥ ነገር ጋር መድረስ አልቻልኩም ማለት ነው። በሌላ አነጋገር አንድ ነገርን በአግባቡ ባለማድረግ ወይም በሁለት ጉዳዮች መካከል በመዋዥቅ የሚገኝ ኪሳራን ያሳያል።
