Meaning

This proverb compares the nature of things and people. Just as wood thins the more it is carved, so too does a person feel jealousy when surpassed by another. It describes the natural human emotion of envy.

ትርጉም

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያነጻጽረው የነገርን እና የሰውን ባህሪ ነው። እንጨትን በጠርበው ቁጥር እንደሚቀጥን ሁሉ፣ ሰውም በሌላ ሰው ሲበልጥበት (ሲያልፈው) ምቀኝነት እንደሚሰማው ያሳያል። የሰው ልጅ ተፈጥሯዊ የሆነውን የቅናት ስሜት ይገልጻል።
