ያገር ልጅ በምን ይመታል በኩበት ያም እንዳይሄድ ያም እንዳይሞት

Meaning

This proverb suggests that great care is needed when punishing or advising one's own relative or countryman. 'To beat with dung' means to correct the person without harming them physically or creating great enmity. If the rebuke or punishment is excessive, they might distance themselves from the family or 'die' (metaphorically, lose spirit or connection). It advises knowing moderation when punishing one's own people.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያመለክተው የገዛ ዘመድን ወይም አገር ልጅን ሲቀጡ ወይም ሲመክሩ በጣም ጥንቃቄ ማድረግ እንደሚያስፈልግ ነው። 'በኩበት መምታት' ማለት ሰውየውን ሳይጎዱ ወይም ትልቅ ጥላቻ ሳይፈጥሩበት ማረም ማለት ነው። ወቀሳው ወይም ቅጣቱ ከልክ ያለፈ ከሆነ፣ ከቤተሰብ ሊርቅ ወይም ሊሞት (በሞራል ሊሞት) ይችላልና ነው። ለገዛ ሰው ቅጣት ሲሰጥ ልክ ማወቅን ያሳስባል።
