Meaning

This proverb is a cautionary tale about greed, distraction, or over-ambition leading to loss. It describes someone who, in trying to gain something more (often out of reach or not immediately necessary), loses what they already had and was within their grasp. ይህ ምሳሌ ስለ ስግብግብነት፣ መዘናጋት ወይም ከልክ ያለፈ ምኞት የተነሳ የሚመጣን ኪሳራ ይገልጻል። አንድ ሰው የተሻለ ነገር (ብዙውን ጊዜ የማይደረስበትን) ለማግኘት ሲሞክር የነበረውንና በእጁ የነበረውን ማጣቱን ያመለክታል።
