ይህ ምሳሌ ሰዎች ስለ አንድ ነገር ሲሰሙ ወዲያውኑ ለማውራት እንደሚቸኩሉ ያሳያል፣ ምንም እንኳን የተመለከተው ሰው ገና ባይናገርም እንኳ። በሌላ አነጋገር፣ ወሬና አሉባልታ በፍጥነት እንደሚሰራጭና ሰዎችም እውነታውን ሳያጣሩ ለማሰራጨት እንደሚጣደፉ ይገልጻል። የቃል ወሬዎችን ጥንቃቄ የጎደለው መስፋፋት ያመለክታል።
