ያንቺን አትበይ ገንዘብ የለሽ የሰው አትበይ ምግባር የለሽ

Meaning

This proverb serves as a dual rebuke. It tells someone not to claim ownership or boast about things they don't possess if they lack the financial means to acquire them. Simultaneously, it warns them not to interfere with or comment on others' belongings if they lack the proper manners and respect. It criticizes a lack of both material resources and moral character.

ይህ ብሂል ገንዘብ የሌለውና ለራሱ ሊኖረው የማይችል ሰው ስለራሱ ነገር ማውራት የለበትም፣ እንዲሁም ስነምግባር የሌለው ሰው የሌሎችን ነገር ጣልቃ መግባት ወይም ስለሌሎች ነገር ማውራት እንደሌለበት የሚገስጽ ነው። የቁሳዊም ሆነ የስነምግባር ጉድለትን ይነቅፋል።
