ደብተራና ተማሪ ሰናፊልና ሱሪ

Meaning

This proverb means that a scholar (Debtera, traditional religious scholar) and a student are intrinsically linked and inseparable. Just as a certain type of cloth (senafil) and trousers are inherently connected (perhaps one is made from the other, or they are a traditional pairing), one cannot truly exist or be understood without the other. It highlights a symbiotic relationship or essential pairing.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያመለክተው ደብተራ (ባህላዊ የሃይማኖት ምሁር) እና ተማሪ የማይነጣጠሉ ወይም እርስ በርስ የተያያዙ መሆናቸውን ነው። ልክ ሰናፊል (የጨርቅ አይነት) እና ሱሪ እንደማይነጣጠሉ ሁለቱም በአንድ ላይ እንደሚሄዱ ያሳያል። አንዱ ያለ ሌላው ትርጉም የለውም።
