ደብተራ የዘኬ ጎተራ ዘኬውን ሲቋ ጥር አነቀው ነብር

Meaning

This proverb illustrates a situation where greed or avarice leads to one's downfall. The 'Debtera' (a traditional cleric) is responsible for managing tithes. When he becomes overly focused on his own share or tries to manipulate it, he faces a deadly consequence (strangled by a leopard), symbolizing that greed can lead to unexpected and severe retribution or danger.
