ዘምቶ ያረጀ በልቶ ያፈጀ

Meaning

This proverb contrasts two ways of aging or being worn out. One is through honorable service, struggle, or sacrifice (like war/campaigning), which brings respect. The other is through gluttony, laziness, or excessive indulgence, which leads to decay and loss of dignity. It distinguishes between honorable wear and tear and self-inflicted decline.

በጦርነት ወይም በክብር አገልግሎት ያረጀ ሰው ከልክ በላይ በመብላትና በስንፍና ከሚያረጅ ወይም ከሚበሰብስ ሰው ይለያል። አንደኛው በክብር የተገኘ እርጅና ሲሆን ሌላኛው በግልፅ ብልሹነት የመጣ መበስበስ ነው።
