✦
“For a poor person, there is no one who asks, 'What will you eat?' but 'What will you do?'”
Meaning
This proverb highlights a harsh reality for the poor: society is more concerned with what they can contribute or how they can help themselves ('What will you do?') rather than their immediate survival needs ('What will you eat?'). It reflects a societal expectation for the poor to be self-reliant rather than to receive direct aid.
