ጀግና የሚታወሰው ወይም ከሞተ ወይም ከተለየ በኋላ ነው

Meaning

This proverb suggests that the true worth, contributions, and heroic qualities of an individual (especially a hero) are often fully recognized, appreciated, and remembered only after their departure, either through death or physical separation. It implies that while they are present, their value might be taken for granted, but their absence reveals their indispensable role and impact.
