ነገር ከዋስ ምላስ ከጥርስ

✦

“A matter with a guarantor, a tongue with teeth.”

Meaning

This proverb stresses the importance of having support, boundaries, or safeguards in various aspects of life. It implies that a serious matter or agreement requires a guarantor for its validity or to ensure fairness. Similarly, the tongue (representing speech) needs the control and discretion offered by the 'teeth' to prevent it from causing harm or speaking unwisely. It advocates for both external support in complex situations and internal self-control in communication.
