Meaning

This proverb means that a person with a hidden weakness, secret, or vulnerability cannot act freely or speak boldly. Just as a wounded dog is constrained by its pain and fear, someone in a compromising situation will be cautious and restricted in their actions and words, fearing exposure or further harm. ይህ ምሳሌ አንድ የተደበቀ ድክመት፣ ሚስጥር ወይም ስሱ ጉዳይ ያለበት ሰው በነጻነት መንቀሳቀስ ወይም በድፍረት መናገር እንደማይችል ያብራራል። እንደቆሰለ ውሻ በህመሙና በፍርሃቱ እንደሚገደብ ሁሉ፣ አሳፋሪ ሁኔታ ያለበት ሰውም በተግባሩና በንግግሩ ጥንቃቄ ያደርጋል፣ ምክንያቱም ይፋ የመሆን ወይም የበለጠ የመጎዳት ስጋት ስላለበት። ይህ ምሳሌ የግል ድክመት ወይም ሚስጥር የአንድን ሰው ነጻነት እና ድፍረት እንዴት እንደሚገድብ ያጎላል።
