Meaning

This proverb describes the concept of a 'false friend' or 'enemy.' The first part, 'one without a mother is a companion,' might imply that someone lacking a mother's love and protection easily seeks companionship. The second part, however, states 'one without a farm is an enemy (instead of a friend).' This implies that if a person lacks their own means of livelihood or land, they might harbor envy and hatred towards others' property or success.
