ይህ ብሂል የባልን ቁምነገር የጎደለው ወይም ዘላቂ ያልሆነ ፍቅር ያመለክታል። 'ቅንድብ ይስማል' ማለት ላዩ ላይ የሆነ፣ ጥልቀት የሌለው ፍቅር ወይም ትስስር ማሳየት ነው። እውነተኛ ቁርጠኝነት ባለው ግንኙነት ውስጥ ጥልቅ ትስስር እንጂ ላዩ ላይ የሆነ ድርጊት ብቻ እንደማይበቃ ይገልጻል።
