ይህ ብሂል አንድ ሰው መሰረታዊ ፍላጎቶቹን (ለምሳሌ ምግብ) ቢያሟላም እንኳ፣ ከአቅም በላይ በሆነ ውስጣዊ ወይም ተፈጥሯዊ ችግር (እንደ ወሊድ) ሊሞት ወይም ሊጎዳ እንደሚችል ይገልጻል። መሰረታዊ ነገሮች ቢሟሉም እንኳ፣ የማይቀሩ የግል ችግሮች ወይም ዕጣ ፈንታዎች ሊያጋጥሙ እንደሚችሉ ያሳያል።
