ያልተፈተነ ወዳጅ ያልተተኮሰ ሸክላ

Meaning

This proverb means that true friendship is revealed and proven only during times of difficulty and trial. Just as an unfired clay pot cannot hold water and is fragile, an untested friend's loyalty and reliability cannot be genuinely trusted until they have faced challenges together.
