This proverb indicates that when there is a conflict between close people, especially family members, it is wise to remain neutral or stay out of the conflict rather than siding with one party. It describes being careful not to get hurt in a conflict between two parties.

ይህ ብሂል በቅርብ ባሉ ሰዎች፣ በተለይም በቤተሰብ አባላት መካከል ግጭት ሲፈጠር፣ ወደ አንዱ ወገን ሳትወግን ገለልተኛ መሆን ወይም ከግጭቱ መራቅ ብልህነት እንደሆነ ያመለክታል። በሁለት ወገኖች መካከል ባለ ግጭት ውስጥ ላለመጎዳት መጠንቀቅን ይገልጻል።
