This proverb warns against the potential hardships or troubles that can arise from unfamiliar circumstances (like rain in a foreign land) and from someone who is not a blood relative (like a stepfather, implying less genuine care). Both are seen as sources of unexpected or unwanted difficulties.

ትርጉም

ይህ ምሳሌ የሌላ ሀገር ዝናብ (ያልተለመደ የአየር ሁኔታ ወይም አስቸጋሪ ሁኔታ) እና የእንጀራ አባት (ከደም ዘመድ ያልሆነ፣ ምናልባትም የማይጨነቅ) የሚያመጡትን ችግር ወይም መከራ ያሳያል። ሁለቱም ያልተጠበቁ ወይም ያልተፈለጉ ችግሮችን ሊያስከትሉ እንደሚችሉ ያመለክታል።
