የሚያልቅ እህል ከማያልቅ ዘመድ ያጣላል

Meaning

This proverb illustrates that we should not ruin lasting relationships (like relatives) for the sake of temporary things (like food). Grain is perishable, while relatives are lasting. It states that fighting with relatives for temporary gain ultimately results in a great loss.

ትርጉም

ይህ ምሳሌ ጊዜያዊ በሆኑ ነገሮች (እንደ ምግብ) ምክንያት ዘላቂ የሆኑ ግንኙነቶችን (እንደ ዘመድ) ማበላሸት እንደሌለብን ያሳያል። እህል የሚያልቅ ሲሆን ዘመድ ግን ዘላቂ ነው። ለጊዜያዊ ጥቅም ሲባል ዘመድን መጣላት በመጨረሻው ውጤት ትልቅ ኪሳራ እንደሆነ ይገልጻል።
