Meaning

This proverb describes a situation or a person deemed worthless or tainted due to association with a corrupt or undesirable individual. Just as yogurt spoiled by a mouse is discarded, a place or matter associated with a 'bad person' is also considered ruined. The phrase 'the yogurt for the dog, and him for inheritance' implies that the spoiled thing (yogurt) is thrown away to a dog, and the undesirable person is only considered valuable for their material possessions after their death, not for their presence or character in life. It signifies utter discreditation or worthlessness.

ትርጉም

ይህ ምሳሌ በአንድ መጥፎ ወይም ክፉ ሰው የተበላሸን ነገር ወይም ሁኔታን ለመግለጽ ያገለግላል። አይጥ የገባበት እርጎ እንደማይበላ ሁሉ፣ አንድ ክፉ ሰው የነበረበት ሸንጎም ወይም በዚያ ሰው የተነካ ነገር ዋጋ እንደሚያጣ ይናገራል። 'እርጎውንም ለውሻ እርሱንም ለውርሻ' ማለትም የተበላሸው ነገር (እርጎው) ለውሻ እንደሚጣል፣ መጥፎው ሰውም ከሞተ በኋላ ለርስቱ ብቻ እንጂ ለግለሰቡ ክብር እንደማይሰጥ ያመለክታል። አንድ ሰው በህይወት እያለ ከሱ ምንም እንደማይጠበቅበት ወይም ዋጋ እንደሌለው ለማሳየት ይጠቅማል።
