✦

“What comes out of the mouth is on the edge (of a cliff/precipice).”

Meaning

This proverb warns about the irreversible nature of spoken words. Once words leave the mouth, they are like something fallen from a precipice or cliff edge – they cannot be taken back or undone. It emphasizes the importance of careful and thoughtful speech, as words, once uttered, have consequences and cannot be retracted.
