ሴት ካልወለደች ቋንጣ አትጠብስም

Meaning

This proverb indicates that certain social or cultural obligations or joys are fulfilled only when specific prerequisites are met. In Ethiopian culture, childbirth holds great significance, and there are traditional celebrations and foods associated with it. Thus, if a woman does not give birth, she will not experience that joy and the related activities. It also conveys the message that there is no effect without a cause.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያመለክተው አንዳንድ ማህበራዊ ወይም ባህላዊ ግዴታዎች ወይም ደስታዎች የተወሰኑ ቅድመ ሁኔታዎች ሲሟሉ ብቻ እንደሚፈጸሙ ነው። በኢትዮጵያ ባህል ውስጥ ልጅ መውለድ ትልቅ ቦታ ያለው ሲሆን፣ ከልጅ መወለድ ጋር ተያይዘው የሚደረጉ ባህላዊ በዓላትና ምግቦች አሉ። ስለዚህ አንዲት ሴት ልጅ ካልወለደች የዚያን ደስታና ከሱ ጋር የተያያዙ ተግባራትን አታገኝም ማለት ነው። ያለ ምክንያት ውጤት አይመጣም የሚል መልእክትም አለው።
