Meaning

This proverb describes a situation where a person, acting with good intentions to help someone, inadvertently creates a dependency. The person being helped instead becomes a burden, taking advantage of the kindness and refusing to become self-reliant, thus clinging on rather than moving forward.

አንድን ሰው በጎ አስቦ ለመርዳት ሲሞክር፣ ያረዷት ሰው ግን ሸክም ሆናበት፣ ተንጠልጥላበት ወይም ተጠቃሚ ሆናበት ስትቀር የሚነገር ብሂል ነው። በጎነትን ተከትሎ የሚመጣ የማይፈለግ ሸክምን ወይም ጥገኛነትን ያሳያል።
