Meaning

This proverb suggests that people in authority (officials) can change their loyalty over time, and cotton, over time, loses its purity and strength, eventually rotting. It indicates that both people and things can change their nature or condition as time passes.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያሳየው ስልጣን ላይ ያሉ ሰዎች (ሹሞች) ጊዜ እያለፈ ሲሄድ ታማኝነታቸው ሊለወጥ እንደሚችል፣ ጥጥም በጊዜ ሂደት ንፅህናውን እና ጥንካሬውን አጥቶ እንደሚበሰብስ ነው። ሰዎችም ሆኑ ነገሮች ጊዜ እያለፈ ሲሄድ ባህሪያቸው ወይም ሁኔታቸው ሊለወጥ እንደሚችል ይገልጻል።
