'ቂጥኛም' ማለት የሆድ ድርቀት ያለበት ወይም የማይመቸው ሰው ማለት ነው። 'ውርዴ' ደግሞ ቁመቱ አጭር የሆነ ሰው ነው። ይህ ብሂል በተለምዶ የሚያመለክተው ሁለት አቅመ ቢስ ወይም ችግር ያለባቸው ሰዎች ሲገናኙ ያለውን ሁኔታ ነው። ወይም ደግሞ አንድ ሰው ችግሩን ለመፍታት ሲል አቅመ ቢስ ከሆኑ ሰዎች ጋር አብሮ ጊዜ ሲያሳልፍ የሚፈጠረውን አስቂኝ ወይም አሳዛኝ ሁኔታ ይገልጻል። ሁለቱም መፍትሄ መስጠት የማይችሉ ሲሆኑ፣ አብረው ሲሰባሰቡ ምንም ውጤት እንደማይገኝ ያሳያል።
