ይህ ምሳሌ አንድ ሰው በችግር ወይም በአስቸጋሪ ሁኔታ ውስጥ ለማለፍ ብልህ፣ ዘዴኛ እና ጥንቃቄ ማድረግ እንዳለበት የሚገልጽ ነው። 'ሆዴ' የሚለው ቃል እዚህ ላይ ራስን፣ ኑሮን ወይም ህይወትን በአጠቃላይ ይወክላል። በተንኮል ወይም በጥበብ መኖር ለህልውና ወሳኝ መሆኑን ያመለክታል።
